This coffee begins as a natural process and at the farm level the green coffee is then cleaned, pre-soaked to expand the bean. From here a caffeine-free GCE (green coffee extract) is introduced to the green beans. The imbalance in caffeine content causes it to migrate from the bean into the GCE (diffusion). When the coffee is 99.9% caffeine-free, it is sent to the dryer then bagged and shipped. This is a more natural approach to decaf coffee where no chemicals are used.
