Brew Guide: Aeropress
What You Need:
- AeroPress Brewer
- AeroPress Microfilter
- Kettle
- Digital scale & timer
- Burr grinder (preferred for accuracy)
- Coffee [this recipe is recommended for light to medium roast. May we suggest our Better Together Blend]
Parameters:
Coffee: 12.5g
Water: 200g
Ratio: 1:16
Water Temperature: 200 °F or 25 seconds off boil
Grind Size: Medium-fine
Brew Time: 2:00 minutes
Step 1: Set Up Equipment
Add a filter to the cap of the AeroPress and rinse filter fully.
Using the inverted method for this recipe, add your plunger to the end of the chamber, leaving enough room for the ground coffee and hot water.
Check out our AeroPress Brew video here for help on setting up your AeroPress.
Step 2: Grind & Pour
Grind your coffee to a medium- fine grind (finer than pour-over). Place your AeroPress on your scale, plunger side down (inverted), tare scale and add 12.5g of ground coffee. Tare the scale again and add 200 g of 200 °F water.
Step 3: Steep
Let the coffee and hot water steep for 1:30. In the meantime, add your cap and filter onto the chamber and twist to lock into place.
Step 4: Plunge + Enjoy
At 1:30 flip your AeroPress onto a cup. Begin pushing the plunger down slowly for 30 seconds. You should hear a hissing sound once all the coffee has filtered through. Finish at approx. 2 minutes.
Enjoy!
Notes:
What we love about the AeroPress is how flexible it is; feel free to play around with different ratios and water temperatures. This brew method is great for making light and fruity roasts POP. We recommend a smaller ratio for lighter roasts [as low as 1:12.5]. For more tips and tricks please feel free to contact us.
